<h2><em>King Corn</em> First of Four Films</h2>
<p>Thursday, June 17 we open the summer season of the Local Motion Film Series with <em>King Corn</em>.</p>
<p>This engaging, eye-opening documentary  tells the story of modern American dependence on one crop&#8211;corn&#8211;laden  with pesticides, genetically modified, subsidized by tax dollars, and  seemingly everywhere in the food chain. A funny, informative, and  whimsical film about just how corny modern America really is.<span id="more-495"></span></p>
<p>After the film, two experts on holistic health, nutrition, and sustainable business will answer questions. <strong>Ted Butchart </strong>is a naturopathic physician educated at  Bastyr University in Seattle, with offices in Charlottesville and Staunton.  Ted has been on the board of Blue Ridge  Permaculture and has taught classes in permaculture and straw bale  construction for over 20 years.  His wife <strong>Ellen Butchart</strong> is an MBA candidate in Sustainable  Management at Bainbridge Graduate Institute (<a href="http://www.bgi.edu/" target="_blank">www.bgi.edu</a>) in Seattle.</p>
<h3>The Rest of the Series</h3>
<p>Our other showings will be held on the <strong>third Thursday</strong> of each month:</p>

<p>All showings begin at 7pm at the <a href="http://www.mockingbird123.com" target="_blank">Mockingbird Restaurant</a> at 123 W. Beverley Street in downtown  Staunton. Doors open at 5:30pm for dinner &#8212; Come enjoy local food and  brews with great conversation.</p>

<p>After the success of our showing of<em> Coal Country</em> at the end of February, we are now announcing the next three showings in Transition Staunton Augusta&#8217;s Local Motion Film Series.</p>
<p>These films will make you think. They will inspire you. And they may make you angry. But however they make you feel, we hope the films will offer our community a chance to begin talking together about peak oil, local food, and how to build an economy beyond fossil fuels that will help Staunton and Augusta County enjoy prosperity in the future.<span id="more-206"></span></p>
<p>Films are on shown the third Thursday of each month:</p>
